Kathleen O’Connor

Kathleen O’Connor is a Research Associate working on the MECCE Project’s Knowledge Synthesis examining interdisciplinary perspectives in relation to climate change communication and education. She is a consulting researcher with the Social Ecology Lab. Most recently, Kathleen worked as the Director of Research and Evaluation with NatureBridge, an organization that provides residential environmental learning experiences for youth in national park settings. With the lab, Kathleen focuses on positive youth development, social-emotional learning, and environmental identity in environmental education. She has a PhD in Education from the Stanford University Graduate School of Education, where her research explored the development of environmental identities in the context of residential environmental education programs. She has also conducted research on academic, mathematical, and racial identities and stereotypes in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms.
